Mission Statement
Governor Sonny Perdue signed into law an act (Senate Bill 491) providing certification of individuals authorized to serve process in Georgia on June 3, 2010. The Judicial Council of Georgia, the Georgia Sheriff’s Association, and the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) worked aggressively to create and implement the various requirements highlighted on Senate Bill 491. The Judicial Council adopted rules governing Georgia Certified Process Server (GCPS) program on January 21, 2011. The certification program operates in partnership with the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association and Georgia Sheriffs.
GCPS seeks to advance the professionalism and establish opportunities for growth within the process server industry. The AOC administers the examination process to persons seeking certification to serve civil process in Georgia. The AOC administered its first examination on May 3, 2012, and has since tested over 500 individuals seeking Georgia certification.
